Stockport College is the first UK college to develop an Alfred McAlpine – IT Services ‘intelligent building’ blueprint for further education. Stockport College will benefit from having a fully integrated and compatible ICT, information learning technology (ILT) and building management system (BMS), allowing the college to deliver a flexible learning environment enabling students to learn anytime, anywhere, via a medium that suits them.
By designing the ICT infrastructure in collaboration with the writers of the college curriculum and the BMS during the initial design phase, the college will save on energy costs.
Peter Roberts, principal at Stockport College, said: “With Alfred McAlpine – IT Services further education experience and the convergence of IT and Building Management Systems, we felt they were best placed to deliver our solution and give us an ‘intelligent building’ with real wow factor.”
Noel McNulty, managing director at Alfred McAlpine – IT Services, commented: “We admire the forward-looking stance the management at Stockport College have taken to lead the way in the further education sector. We look forward to providing Stockport College with an IT system that will deliver their vision and inspire students for generations to come.”
