Solution to day-to-day running of IT network

Pandi (www.pandi.co.uk) an IT Network Service company and a dedicated Cisco Premier Partner based in Chalfont St. Peter, have provided the first Cisco® Smart Care Service globally to Featherstone Primary & Nursery School. This brand new school opened in September 2006 in Southall, Middlesex.

Featherstone Primary & Nursery School required a method of monitoring and managing the day-to-day running of the IT Network. Whilst they currently had a managed service contract with an engineer coming on site when problems occurred, this didn’t quite meet their requirements and budget. In addition Graham Cooksey, a full time teacher, also had the sole responsibility for the IT Network within the school.

Graham Cooksey stated “I chose Pandi not on price but on the professional service offering. There were other solutions available at a more competitive price.”

Dharmendra Jadeja (DJ), Pandi's Networking Sales Specialist met with Graham back in September this year. DJ realised they already had existing Cisco hardware as well as competitive vendor products. With Graham’s limited onsite IT resources, DJ noted that they would need someone who could consistently monitor and manage the day-to-day running of the network together with consultation around improved products and services.

DJ recommended that the best solution for Featherstone Primary & Nursery School would be to consolidate their Cisco support to one single contract, and for Pandi to manage the network remotely, Cisco Smart Care.

Cisco Smart Care Service is a comprehensive network wise service that offers proactive network monitoring, health checkups, diagnostics, and software repairs in addition to technical support for the entire Cisco network in a single contract. Cisco Smart Care provides greater viability into the performance of the network and helps reduce the time and effort necessary to make sure that the network is running efficiently.

Pandi currently provides Featherstone with:

  • Remote monitoring and repair of Cisco devices and software applications
  • Proactive health checks and periodic assessments of Cisco network foundation, voice and security technologies to identify potential issues
  • Technical support for all supported Cisco hardware and software in the network with a single network wide maintenance contract
  • Software upgrades and maintenance releases for qualified Cisco applications
  • Cisco IOS® (Internet Operating System) Software support including maintenance releases and patches, minor releases and major releases
  • Next-business-day advance replacement of Cisco devices • Proactive notifications to simplify the updating of Cisco devices
  • Assessment and preparation services to simplify the addition of new technologies and applications over time
This is an ongoing renewable 12 month contract for 14 devices at approximately £3,000 The added benefit to Smart Care is that you can simply add any additional Cisco hardware onto the existing contract.
