A Textbook Case for Crown Trade Timonox
Published:  09 November, 2007

Crown Trade’s Timonox range of flame retardant paints has been specified for the redecoration of the prestigious Altrincham Grammar School for Boys in Cheshire. Paints from the range were selected for the refurbishment of the school’s library due to their durability and ability to allow surfaces to comply with fire safety requirements.

Diamond Services, a leading North West provider of commercial and domestic services, carried out the redecoration of the school’s library and chose Timonox Acrylic Eggshell for application in this high-use area.

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order requires building owners to carry out a fire risk assessment on their premises, and highlights the potential hazard of flame spread across painted surfaces as one of the elements that needs to be considered in such an assessment.

Phillip Gilham, managing director of Diamond Services, commented: “The busy, well-used library required a product which would deliver exceptional protection against flame spread, as well as a durable, high quality finish. Diamond specified Crown Trade Timonox for this project as it is one of the few paints on the market that meets both the highest Class 0 fire rating and the equivalent European Class B rating, for walls and ceilings.”
