Kids eat their greens with Gopak
Published:  09 November, 2007

Forget fatty chips and turkey twizzlers, hungry pupils are now loading up their school dinner plates with healthy salads thanks to Gopak’s Premier Servery tables.

The handy foldable creations, housing a trio of standard Gastronorm Containers, have been rolled out to schools in the London Borough of Ealing and are revolutionising what youngsters eat for lunch.

Before adopting the Premier Servery tables, schools had no means of displaying salad items properly due to a lack of space. Now the tables are giving hungry pupils over the age of five the opportunity to choose what salad they would like to accompany their meal.

According to education chiefs at Ealing, since the Gopak product was introduced significantly more children are having school meals and regularly helping themselves to vitamin-packed salads and cooked vegetables.

Ealing Council's David Shailes said: "The introduction of the salad bar tables has been a huge success. They have encouraged children to try new foods and make fresh salad part of their daily diet.

“The Premier Servery Table is convenient and easy to store, and has proved a cost effective solution to the problems many schools faced."

Gopak, the UK’s market leader in the design, manufacture and supply of lightweight aluminium furniture, introduced the product as part of its highly successful Premier range.

The Premier Servery table comes in three heights: buffet (760mm), adult (698mm) and junior (635mm), with a standard length of 1830mm by 760mm.

Once the dining service is completed, the Gastronorm Containers can be lifted out and the table folded neatly away, requiring minimal storage space.

All of Gopak’s products are made to BS EN 9001:2000 standards and come with a five-year guarantee.
