Well, well, well
New fixed surface mats replace old style mat-well
Published:  01 September, 2007

Companies who greet their customers with worn, inefficient and grubby entrance matting, loosely fitted into damp floor recesses, can now take the low cost option of filling in the well and replacing the mat with an attractive and safe fixed frame mat, either the same size or larger than the original, at a fraction of the cost of re-digging and replacing the original style matting.

Gripfit’s new fixed matting solution enables shops, offices, hospitals, schools and other public buildings to fix a low profile frame onto a clean, hard surface, to hold securely an efficient, attractive and moisture retaining mat that is easy to remove and clean. With just a 7.5mm frame profile, it also ensures the premises are easily accessible by trolleys, buggies and customers in wheelchairs.

Gripfit director, Ben Colbourne, said “Old style coir mats in sunken wells end up worn and dirty. When new they impede movement of wheelchairs and as the mat compress over time, the edges rise up causing a trip hazard. Once worn, they no longer prevent moisture and dirt from entering the premises, increasing the risk of accidents and the cost of cleaning adjacent flooring.

Gripfit mats are highly moisture and dirt retentive, they can be regularly cleaned, by using Gripfit’s planned and reactive maintenance service. They will withstand hard wear and high volume traffic and offer a far more cost efficient solution than having to repair, replace and re-dig an often damp and unhygienic mat well, with the ensuing disruption that causes to trade and footfall”.
