Calling all young artists
Published:  01 June, 2007

Walker Morris is launching their annual Children's Charity Calendar Painting Competition, now in its 14th year.

Corporate law firm Walker Morris is encouraging budding young artists to win prizes for both themselves and their schools in its annual Charity Calendar Painting Competition.

They are inviting all children across the Yorkshire and Humber region, aged 5-11, to paint a picture that depicts their favourite month of the year. Winning entries will be used to produce a calendar, sold in aid of Yorkshire's Martin House Children's Hospice Charity.

Since its inception, in 1993, the competition has raised over £30,000 for the Hospice.

The competition which attracts over 1000 entries each year, will be judged by internationally renowned artist, Ashley Jackson. The 13 winners, including the coveted front page winner, will each receive a treasure chest full of artist's materials, worth £50 and a cheque for £250 for their school. 24 runners-up will also receive a prize each.

As well as the £250 prize incentive, schools have found the competition to be an excellent class art project.

To enter, children simply choose their favourite time of the year, create a painting of that month and send it to us with a completed entry form.

To obtain an entry form, contact the marketing department at Walker Morris, Kings Court, 12 King Street, Leeds. LS1 2HL tel: 0113 283 2500.
