Awning extends learning and play time at Nursery School
Published:  12 March, 2010

Effective control of solar gain and glare is vital in order to give children a good physical and social environment.  Daybreak Nursery in Rickmansworth contracted  specialists Broadview, a leading manufacturer and supplier of awnings and blinds in the UK, to supply and install an external fabric awning to ensure children enjoy the outdoor space.

In order to provide sufficient shade for the nursery children for reading and activities, Broadview designed and installed one 5.5m by 4m folding arm Broadview 35 electric awning system and this has been positioned over a play area to create a long-term shading solution.

Teachers can operate the Broadview 35 square bar awning via a hand-held remote and an automatic override retracts the product should wind speeds rise above a predetermined level. Making a significant contribution to the building’s external aesthetics, the awning is in dark green water repellent fabric and the arms on which it operates is polyester powder-coated.
