Lord Lawson of Beamish School appoints SportsArt
The comprehensive school - Lord Lawson of Beamish, appointed SportsArt Fitness UK to assist them in planning and supply of equipment as part of a “Fitness Suite Project” that would have dual-purpose use - involving staff, students and the wider general public.
Headed up by John Reach Deputy Head teacher and Iain Beveridge Director of Services, they looked to identify companies who could provide professional advice on equipment selection and layout; plus supply and service premium, eco-friendly, robust and reliable fitness equipment that was affordable with in their approved budget.
SportsArt Fitness was approached along with a number of other firms. Some companies offered to supply second hand refurbished equipment, but concerns of safety and reliability ruled out this option. To attract users to the gym, both John and Iain were very conscious that the equipment needed to look modern, offer innovative technical features, yet be user friendly.
John Reach Deputy Headteacher reported, “SportsArt experience was invaluable, as they quickly establish a rationale for how the fitness suite would be used and presented scaled drawings of the floor space and possible suggestions on equipment selection and layout. We also visited several other establishments using SportsArt equipment, which instilled us with further confidence enabling us to award them the contract.
Although the SportsArt’s tender was not the lowest, its fitness equipment was found to be more robust, modern, versatile and visually appealing. Also, as the manufacturer, SportsArt’s comprehensive warranty and ‘after sales care package’ was far superior to competitors. The SportArt tender included for scheduled maintenance, onsite staff training and the supply of marketing and advertising products to help us promote the dual-purpose facilities to the general public.
The gym facility has brought a new dimension to sport at Lord Lawson’s as we now offer fitness modules to our GCSE work and younger students have an extra activity that is proving very popular. External groups are also very keen to hire our facilities. Overall the project has been a very beneficial initiative to Lord Lawson. It was completed to budget and on time.
We would thoroughly recommend SportsArt to anyone wishing to create, develop or extend any form of fitness facility.
SportsArt proves a winner at the Excelsior Academy
The Excelsior Academy situated in the West End of Newcastle awarded SportsArt the contract to supply cardio and strength training products to equip its new fitness centre, purposely designed to support and encourage students, staff and the local community to participate in leisure pursuits.
Peter Snowdon - Business Manager for Excelsior Academy reported, “It was vitally important that any new selected fitness equipment was user friendly and fit for purpose, especially as the facilities were to be in constant use by a wide age group, 7 days a week.
SportsArt supplied treadmills, ellipticals, upright & recumbent bikes, chest, shoulders and arms apparatus and as a result, feel that we have provided members with an excellent balanced training circuit within our budget.
SportsArt was very professional, constructive and helpful in offering advice on layout and equipment selection, but at no time did we feel under pressure or consider that they were trying over sell.
The project was completed on time, within budget and provides Excelsior Academy with a state-of-the art fitness suite to complement the PE curriculum.”
