A total of 100sq m of cold applied S327-15EL membrane in Patina Green was used on the main roof and plant room walls to give the roof its unique aged copper appearance, with an additional 100sq m of membrane in Light Grey installed on the plant room roof. To complete the main roof, 300sq m of G410-15EL membrane in Light Grey was also installed.
With no naked flames or hot bonding the residents could remain in-situ throughout the works. Scottish Sarnafil registered contractor Miller Roofing was also required to install the new roof within a tight timeframe. As the company’s managing director Alan Hilditch recalls: “After the original roof was stripped it was immediately sealed with a self adhesive SarnaVap 5000E SA vapour control layer, which provided a quickly-laid, instant waterproof seal. The roof was insulated with the Sarnafil guaranteed roof insulation which, in conjunction with an insulated render system to the walls of the block, gives the building a vastly improved thermal performance.”
