Published:  29 January, 2010

Sony’s heritage in designing advanced workflow platforms helps education professionals to bring learning to life

Sony Professional has revealed the breadth of solutions that it will showcase at BETT 2010 to help education professionals create a more connected and engaged school community through rich multimedia content and interactive learning.

Drawing on its unrivalled range of audiovisual and entertainment solutions, from broadcast hardware and consumer electronics to music and video games, Sony has exceptional insights and experience in designing environments that engage and encourage connected thinking. At the world’s largest educational technology event, the company will demonstrate how it is uniquely positioned to provide integrated content platforms that meet the needs for education, enhance levels of engagement and deliver tangible educational transformation.

“Modern technology is continually pushing the boundaries for how young people receive and engage with information. Each new generation of students has a stronger natural affinity with technology as a learning mechanism than the last, and it’s critical that teachers unlock the power of rich multimedia content to reengage pupils and enhance the learning experience” explained Hamish Kennedy, Business Solutions Manager, Sony Professional. “We want educational professionals to come and see how much of an enabler today’s technology can be.”

Sony has a vision for a new type of learning environment that has multimedia content at its core – along with the means to easily create, import, distribute, manage, share, archive and protect that content.  By integrating high-performance AV studios, networked displays and projectors, cameras, monitors, computing, storage and portable devices in a single system, this environment encourages enthusiastic participation from pupils, staff, parents and governors who have 24x7 access to the information they need.
