Encouraging ICT to be embedded in the education environment, the latest version of Promethean’s interactive software (ActivInspire 1.3) offers enhanced tool functionality, as well as improved interoperability across platforms (Mac, PC, Linux) and software programs, making it even easier to create, edit, import and manipulate resources to create exciting flipcharts. It also enables seamless integration with the latest ActivClassroom solutions, including Promethean’s dual pen mode (ActivArena), Learner Response Systems (ActivExpression and ActiVote) and its visual presenter (ActiView), which allows teachers to capture and display still and moving images of 3D objects.
To support the personalised learning and assessment agendas, Promethean is introducing an innovative enhancement to its ActivExpression Learner Response System. The new ‘Self-Paced Learning’ feature enables each learner to work through questions on their individual handset at their own speed, giving teachers greater scope to tailor teaching to individual learner requirements and abilities.
Promethean’s interactive whiteboard (ActivBoard) range has been updated to provide a wider choice of solutions for different teaching and learning environments and budgets. At the top of the range, the ActivBoard 300 Pro is available in a widescreen version with a motorised height adjustability option and offers a complete multimedia platform with integrated speakers, amplifier and additional USB ports. The ActivClassroom now also includes a portable, all-in-one audio enhancement system (ActivSound One).
BETT 2010 visitors will also be able to find out about the latest resources and developments to be launched on the world’s fastest growing interactive whiteboard community – Promethean Planet (www.PrometheanPlanet.com). The site has doubled its following over the past year and is on track to reach the 500,000 member milestone by January 2010. Features include a teacher forum, blog, online training (ActivLearning), free videoconferencing facility (ActivRoom) and superb educational resources developed with publishing partners including National Geographic, Manga Shakespeare, the Imperial War Museum and Texaco.
