New cast iron boilers
Published:  15 May, 2007

New generation cast iron boilers from Clyde Energy Solutions are providing a modern heating and hot water solution for an historic school in Stratfordupon- Avon. King Edward VI School dates back to the fifteenth century, and it is generally believed that William Shakespeare was among its past pupils.

Four Clyde CK30-260 eightsection boilers have been installed in the school’s existing plant room by Inderflame Ltd of Droitwich. The new units replace outdated commercial boilers and are designed to ensure peak efficiency with exceptionally low standby losses. The four boilers have a combined output of approximately 1,000kW and deliver a Boiler Seasonal Efficiency of 84.07% (as defined in the Non-domestic compliance guide that supports ADL2). The efficient 3-pass heat exchanger design ensures full compliance with Part L2 Building Regulations for both new build and replacement commercial applications.

The CK30 boilers have been supplied for use in the school’s open vented heating system with a conventional flue and twostage speed control gas burners, which match heat output to system demand. Clyde’s optional BMS interface has also been incorporated and is linked directly to the council’s Property Services department to enable remote monitoring of the system.

The CK30 range is available in six models from 150kW to 320kW and can be used in open vented or pressurised heating systems up to 8 bar working pressure with gas, oil or dual fuel burners.
