Successful trial of SitexOrbis Vaporisation Service to disinfect Drogheda Health Centre
Published:  10 December, 2009

County Councillor Frank Godfrey seeks council approval for vaporisation process to reduce council staff illness during swine ‘flu outbreak.

A revolutionary new infection control process has been trialled at a Drogheda GP Health Centre to demonstrate its effectiveness for reducing the scale of swine ‘flu and seasonal ‘flu cross-infection in offices, health centres and schools during outbreaks of infection.  Arranged by County Councillor Frank Godfrey, a well-known member of Louth County Council and a former Mayor of Drogheda, the trial was set up to endorse Councillor Godfrey’s belief that his and other councils should be using the SitexOrbis vaporisation process to reduce the impact on council staff and council services of the expected swine ‘flu pandemic.

SitexOrbis, based in Dublin, is the only company to offer vaporisation infection control powered by a recently developed antimicrobial agent that has been proved to eliminate the swine flu virus.  Extensively tested both in the laboratory and in practical use, the agent is of proven biological efficacy and kills 99.9999% of all known viruses and bacteria, including salmonella, MRSA, Clostridium Difficile, SARS, Listeria, avian flu and H1N1 influenza A type viruses, both airborne and on surfaces, in minutes. Interestingly, the rate 99.9999% would mean 1 million fold reduction of pathogens, while the commonly used claim of 99% would only be a 100 fold reduction.

Available as regular visits or as a 24/7 rapid response service, the  proven process suits all environments, including public transport, airports, airlines, universities, colleges, schools and nurseries, hospitals, medical centres, hotels, offices and other workplaces.  Vaporisation with the antimicrobial agent used by SitexOrbis is fast and cost-effective and has no detrimental effect on staff, customers or animals.

SitexOrbis emphasises that there is no complete protection against swine flu or any other virus.  As with all disinfection processes, the service cannot prevent re-infection of people working in or using premises by new visitors who carry the virus.  However, if public authorities and private sector employers operate sensible infection control procedures, it will substantially reduce the risks, both to the organisation and its staff.

Councillor Godfrey intends to propose that the infection control vaporisation process is used to help protect council staff, and to promote its use in hospitals, health centres, schools and nurseries to help to protect some of the most vulnerable members of our society.
