Polyflor XL PU provides inlaid lessons at Abacus School
Published:  09 November, 2009

A variety of inlaid designs to represent lessons including maths, science, geography and art feature in flooring supplied by commercial flooring specialists Polyflor Ltd, installed in classrooms throughout Abacus School, Wickford, Essex.

A combination of slip-resistant, stylish timber effect Polysafe Wood FX sheet vinyl safety flooring and Polyflor XL PU heavy duty sheet vinyl has been fitted in classrooms throughout the school.

The vibrant designs - which include a globe, numbers and mathematics symbols and paintbrushes - were created via the Polyflor Expressions Design Service which uses advanced water-jet cutting techniques to create precise shapes and styles for inlaid decoration.

The attractive timber effect and sustainable slip resistance of Polysafe Wood FX along with colourful, easy to maintain Polyflor XL PU proved the ideal combination for the school and was installed by Easifloor Limited of Basildon.

"Combining safety with an exciting and colourful learning environment for our pupils was a challenge," says headteacher Gillian Brinded. "The designs created by Polyflor and the proven slip resistance of Polysafe Wood FX meet that challenge perfectly."

Fully tested to fire safety standard EN13501-1, both ranges are certified as Class Bfl-S1, achieving the criteria EN ISO 9239-1 ≥8kw/m² and the mandatory requirement of EN ISO 11925-2 pass.
