Surf anywhere with Calypso

Calypso Soft Drinks has introduced a variety of new school product variants and campaigns to boost its highly successful ‘school approved' drinks portfolio.

Richard Cooke, Sales & Marketing Director comments "We have spent a lot of energy on developing refreshing, healthy drinks for children with a higher juice content, which are school compliant. Our main schools campaign has been with our Aquajuice 67 ‘Surf Anywhere' campaign which brings surf sports to children, particularly those in inner cities who would not generally get the chance to try surf sports.

"In the last year we have visited many schools and cities across the UK and next year are aiming to develop the programme to connect ‘the sports with healthy school meals' more closely." Next month, Calypso is to begin phase two of its campaign, with a trial at Newham's Cumberland School - the project kicks off and involves both the schools' sports staff and the catering team during The School Food Trust's ‘School Meals Week'.

Calypso, Newham Council Catering Services and the Cumberland School are launching a ‘Surf Anywhere' event, plus are creating a Surf Shack Café during the event to serve themed, healthy lunches to enhance the connection with healthy eating and the sport. Calypso's surf coaches will teach hundreds of youngsters dry-land surfing techniques and they will get to try ‘Street Surfing' - the closest thing to surfing on land.

Cooke continues, "Government food policies will continue to promote the trend for healthier eating and our mission is to reflect these goals and do whatever we can to promote active lifestyles and healthier drinks."

Aquajuice 67 Juicy Water 330ml/500ml and now a new 250ml variant has just been launched - hugely successful in foodservice and schools in particular. Calypso's flagship brand Aquajuice 67 (67% pure juice/33% natural mineral water). The new 250ml variant is now available in three varieties: apple; forest fruits and the recently launched lemon and lime flavours.

Calypso Juice Shots 96 x 85ml - is another big success story in schools, bucking the downward pure juice trend. Previously known as ‘Calypso Cuplets' and following a highly successful retail launch which showed 85% growth in sales, the company has now re-branded the product as Calypso Juice Shots. These 85ml compact 100% pure juice cuplets are now available in foodservice in apple, orange and tropical varieties:

  • the pack format is very convenient and the size is unique to Calypso
  • they are perfect for lunchboxes or a break-time drink
  • there is absolutely no wastage as children drink all of it.

Continuing its active engagement with schools, Calypso has also just launched a new Calypso Juicy Aid product range which has been developed in association with leading rainforest and wildlife conservation charity, the World Land Trust.

Available in Apple; Citrus; and Berry varieties in 330ml fully sleeved bottles, Juicy Aid contains 58% pure fruit juices blended with 42% lightly sparkling natural mineral water, sourced from Calypso's own natural springs.

For every bottle of Calypso Juicy Aid sold, a donation will be made to the charity - every £50.00 donated to the Trust will buy one acre of threatened rainforest. Calypso and the World Land Trust also aims to produce a schools resource pack to tie into the school curriculum for key stages 1, 2 and 3 focusing on science and geography.
