If you are responsible for planning or designing a Building Schools for the Future project then Interbuild BSF is an unmissable event. Interbuild BSF is a new zone within Interbuild Specifier, dedicated to the world's biggest educational building, refurbishment and regeneration programme. The show takes place from 18-21 October at the NEC in Birmingham.

Supported by Birmingham City Council, Catalyst Education and Bovis Lend Lease, Interbuild BSF is the only event to bring together all key stakeholders in the education and construction sectors to showcase and discuss the building and refurbishment of schools.

Featuring leading suppliers and manufacturers of educational equipment, interior products and finishes, as well as construction firms specialising in the build and refurbishment of schools, Interbuild BSF will bring together all of the elements affecting the building and refurbishment of schools.

Visitors to this show will see:

  • Finished and fully specified education environments, which you can see, touch and test
  • Construction innovations along with interior products, equipment and finishes
  • Free seminars covering all the key issues around the BSF programme

If you are a Head Teacher, Governor or other educationalist responsible for the implementation of the BSF programme for your school, then this is a must-attend. Interbuild BSF is a unique opportunity to gain inspiration for your own projects and an opportunity to learn from best practice case studies and find your way around the BSF process.

At Interbuild BSF you will be able to see full scale examples of a classroom and science learning space based on the designs for schools within the Birmingham BSF programme. They will be completely furnished and fitted as if they were in a real school, meaning you can try out for yourself the products installed and see how they work within a learning environment. This is a unique opportunity to gain fresh yet practical and cost effective ideas for your own school building projects.

The classroom will be an example of an adaptable learning space, which can accommodate both large classes and smaller breakout groups, all in one area.

The classroom can be used for lessons, as well as music, art and drama activity.

The physical structure will be supplied by Thomas Vale, a leading supplier of design and build for the education sector. Thomas Vale specialises in creating bespoke and inspirational educational building which can deliver real benefits to educational establishments.

The classroom will be fully fitted with the latest equipment and furnishings for schools from leading educational suppliers, SpaceOasis and Little Dreams. The classroom will be fitted out with a number of finishes, including interior flooring by Polyflor, and sports and play flooring by Boen.

The science lab will be fully fitted with science equipment and, so that you can see how the space works as a fully functional learning environment.

The physical structure will be supplied by Swift Horsman, using an example of their new pre-engineered walling system, SwiftWall. The structure will comprise of light steel gauge framing, and be full integrated with heating, lighting and electrical installations. The science lab will be fully kitted out with examples of the latest furniture, science equipment and loose furnishings from ESA McIntosh.

There will also be a number of other solutions and ideas for school on show:

Kita Design will also be showcasing their new low cost, sustainable classroom pod, recently installed at Elleray Preparatory School in Windermere. The pod will be located by Sustainability Street, and will host the Innovation Theatre seminars.

In between the presentations, you can take a tour of the pod, and learn about the environmentally friendly techniques used in its construction, and how it has been installed as a unique classroom for a primary school, from as little as £60k.

Swift Horsman will be showcasing their construction solutions for schools with a real life washroom in Sustainability Street, the central visitor attraction at Interbuild Specifier.

Interbuild BSF will feature a number of free seminars, aimed at explaining the key issues involved with managing the build or refurbishment of your schools.
Held in association with Birmingham City Council, the seminars will help you find your way around BSF policy and construction regulations, as well as provide an essential 'how to' guide from those who are already been through the process themselves.

The seminars will take place 18-21 October, and be themed around:

  • Retrofitting
  • Sustainability in schools
  • ICT
  • Birmingham schools
