Your staff - your future!
Published:  21 October, 2009

The CPD Mark - a new quality mark designed to improve Continuing Professional Development standards - was launched in September 2008. There are now more than 750 schools engaged in the process.

Shire Oak School in Walsall is the first school (outside pilot phase) to be awarded this Mark which means that it has exceeded CPD standards set by both government and by Ofsted.

Chris Smith, Deputy Headteacher/CPD Co-ordinator of Shire Oak School said "The process was rigorous but it enabled us to recognise and celebrate our strengths as well as identify areas we needed to work on. The whole process was invaluable in improving the quality of our CPD provision."

Exclusive to the education sector, the framework comprises eight criteria including: a vision for CPD, curriculum development and collaborative work with pupils, parents and the community. A set of guidelines enables schools to map their evidence against Ofsted inspection requirements, SEF criteria and ECM outcomes.
