Selectaglaze - Providing a Master Class in Secondary Glazing Systems
Published:  21 October, 2009

Secondary glazing is the most effective and simplest solution to unwanted noise but it will also markedly improve a building's energy efficiency and can increase window security. It is often the only practical solution for traditional or listed buildings with preserved facades.

Secondary glazing is fitted on the room side of existing windows and when fitted with an air gap of at least 100mm it will dramatically improve sound insulation. In schools and colleges it has particular value in exam rooms, music rooms and libraries.

A well designed and installed secondary window can nearly halve heat loss through the glass and since it seals the whole window draughts are markedly reduced. Many schools and colleges have large window areas and secondary glazing will help to conserve energy and reduce long term costs.

Even in its most basic form secondary glazing provides a second barrier to entry but Selectaglaze has developed a range providing greatly enhanced levels of protection from physical attack and blast. These are suited to IT areas, laboratories, Clean Rooms and secure reception screens. The company's products have been accredited as "Secured by Design".

Selectaglaze's purpose made systems arrive fully assembled to allow rapid installation with minimal disruption and works can be staged to suit maintenance budgets.

Established in 1966 and a Royal Warrant holder since 2004, Selectaglaze Ltd has vast experience in working with all types of buildings throughout the UK.
