LifeLong Learning UK
Published:  17 September, 2009

Following its pilot year, thousands of teachers are now delivering the 14-19 Diploma qualifications to students across the country. As a highly vocational course, the Diploma will bring challenges to both those involved in developing and delivering teaching. It brings into focus the need for teachers of 14-19 year olds to have the knowledge, skills and understanding that will enable them to provide an effective Diploma programme.

LifeLong Learning UK, responsible for the professional development of staff working in lifelong learning in the UK, is supplying schools and colleges with free resources to help those who are new to delivering the Diploma course. A brochure guide to supporting the professional development of Diploma teachers covers collaborative working, applied learning and effective assessment. A CD ROM offering advice, ideas and lesson plans for getting local businesses involved in the classroom is also available.
