Published:  17 September, 2009

As swine flu continues to be of concern around the UK, most of us are keen to find ways of preventing the spread of infection. Recent tests carried out on HiBi antiseptic products show, when used to clean hands, they are effective against the virus.

A study carried out on behalf of Mölnlycke Health Care, the company behind the HiBi range showed that HiBi Gel Hand Rub+ kills the Swine Flu virus after 15 seconds, while HiBiSCRUB is effective after 30 seconds.

HiBi Gel Hand Rub+ is a hygienic hand disinfectant for on-the-go protection, as you don't need water. With 2% Chlorhexidine gluconate, it is effective against a broad range of bacteria and fungi, killing bacteria instantly and continuing to work for up to six hours.

HiBiSCRUB is effective against a wide range of bacteria, yeasts, common skin fungi and certain viruses. Its main ingredient, Chlorhexidine gluconate 4%, is powerful lasting up to six hours.

Both products are now available to local authorities for use in schools, hospitals, leisure centres etc.
