The LG Network Monitor has been developed to meet the growing demand for a low cost solution to the PC replacement cycle. Purchasing an LG Network Monitor to include 11 desktop monitors, keyboards, mice and software is 60% cheaper than a comparable computer system comprising 10 stand alone PCs. In addition, with only one host PC to manage, repair, maintenance, and upgrade costs can be reduced by almost 90% over a five-year period.
With every pupil able to have just a monitor, keyboard and mouse on their desks, the space-saving advantages of the Network Monitor system are obvious. Dedicated ICT suites are no longer necessary as each monitor provides a terminal for pupils to access their individual area on the system. Additionally, benefits to the user include reducing the time spent booting the computer system as the monitor can be powered up in less than 15 seconds, meaning valuable lesson time is not lost. Peripheral connections on the host PC, such as USB ports, can be assigned to individual users or accessible across the network. This feature ensures personal data remains safe but devices such as printers can be shared."
The system is compatible with all popular software including Windows and LINUX, making it simple to install and easy to set up. Power can be provided through Cap 5 and 6 LAN cables instead of through a separate power line and all users can access the Internet through a single Internet line connected to the host PC.
Warren Lewis for LG explains: "There are many schools using PCs which are more than five years old that are finding it difficult to decide whether to allocate their limited budget on new technology or to spend it elsewhere within the school. When finds are limited, hard decisions have to be made.
"We are offering schools the opportunity to gain access to the latest technology at a fraction of the cost it would normally take to replace their existing PCs.
"LG Network Monitor lets multiple users share the computing strength of a single PC simultaneously. So children enjoy all the computing power of a high spec PC whilst schools benefit in terms of significant cost savings and increased green credentials." Concludes Warren.
