AvediaStream helps educators future-proof their TV and video investments
Published:  17 September, 2009

Exterity, the building IPTV specialist, has launched the AvediaStream chassis and blades. This modular head-end solution makes it easier than ever before for educational institutions to capture and distribute high-impact TV and video learning materials over their existing building or campus network (LAN).

Make foreign language broadcasts available to faculty and students or distribute live lectures or announcements from video cameras. Save internet bandwidth by distributing TV to student accommodations from an internal source, eliminating multiple streams from outside sources such as BBC iPlayer.

Exterity Building IPTV lets you use excess capacity on your LAN to keep up with advances like the digital switchover and High Definition (HD) video. Building IPTV not only preserves much of your AV investment-including hard-won staff expertise-but delivers lower capital and operating expenses, as well.

AvediaStream blades are specialized head-end AV servers that let you inject both SD and HD channels from TV, cable and satellite channels or other video sources such as DVD/Blu-ray players into the network as standard MPEG streams. These can be managed just like other network services such as email or web browsing and delivered to standard TVs, AV displays, user PCs or digital signage.

Start small and grow as needed: just plug in new blades to support new initiatives or funding. AvediaStream offers green efficiency, with a lower power consumption and longer life than PC-based solutions, and can stream multiple SD and HD TV channels simultaneously from the same blade for a lower cost per channel.
