Alumasc Rainwater system adds to award-winning school's ‘green' theme
Published:  16 September, 2009

Aluminium Rainwater specialists Alumasc have supplied a high performance rainwater system to the award-winning £7.3m Windygoul Primary School in Tranent, near Edinburgh.

The school, built to stringent ‘green' requirements boasts environmental features such as integrated photovoltaic glazing, solar hot water heating and a sedum roof, earning East Lothian Council a Carbon Trust Award for Low Carbon Building.

Alumasc's Aqualine aluminium gutter system with Flushjoint downpipes perfectly suited the contemporary design of the school, with the added benefit of being manufactured from a 100% recyclable material.

Aqualine Modern, was selected for its high capacity drainage and sleek, sophisticated appearance. Secret fix bracketry allowed a smooth, uniform cross section along the whole length of the gutter, giving a completely clean external appearance. Flushjoint downpipes complemented the sleek appearance of the guttering, with the ‘flush joints' based on concealed spigots.
