Refurbished Junckers floor
Published:  15 April, 2007

Hardman Fold School in Failsworth near Manchester installed its Junckers sport hall floor in 1983. From that point on, the floor received very little maintenance, the seal wore and the surface eventually became dilapidated.

But a key benefit of Junckers hardwood is that despite this surface wear, the school could easily restore the solid Beech floor to good as new condition. So in 2006, nearly a quarter of a century after the original installation, the school was able to commission a complete refurbishment of the original surface.

The project was undertaken by Amber Floors of Leeds, using Junckers' specialist finishing products. The timber was sanded back to bare wood then refinished using Junckers' recommended protocol of Pro Seal primer followed by HP Sport lacquer. Pro Seal is Junckers' oil based primer, offering the special advantage of highlighting the rich, natural tones of the wood back to its original depth of colour. Line markings were added between the two coats of HP Sport. The resulting floor is indistinguishable from a brand new installation.
