Healthy pupils, teachers and parents!
Published:  08 July, 2009

Julian's School in south-west London ran a ‘Healthy Week Programme' to focus on the emotional and physical health of it's children. The school, working in conjunction with Calm Revive (www.calm-revive.com), a leading professional wellbeing company, ran the programme in June 2009, providing 27 workshops for 240 children, 60 parents and carers and 30 teachers over the course of three days.

The school timetable revolved around yoga, relaxation & massage and boxing fit for every child in reception to Year six. The workshops were combined with other ‘healthy' activities such as: Morning Massage for all the family, a Climbing wall, Bikeability, Walk to school & Design a school lunch.

Head teacher Alison Moller had three main objectives:

  • Maintain ‘Healthy School' status
  • To encourage physical and emotional wellbeing by exploring alternative forms of relaxation and exercise, and
  • Continuing the work on meeting the Government's ‘Every Child Matters' targets

She commented: "We chose Calm Revive because they could design the whole programme for us. They have listened to our needs and have developed a fantastic programme that focuses on the emotional and physical wellbeing of our children."

Rhona Fairbairn, co-founder of Calm Revive, said: "We are embarking on a leading-edge programme with Julian's school that will inspire pupils, teachers and parents and carers to lead healthier lives."

Calm Revive is the only service that provides the breadth of experts in professional wellbeing for schools with over 60 consultants.
