Cuts in education - a new way!
Published:  15 April, 2007

Schools involved with inhouse building maintenance or design and technology projects often need to cut large sheets of material, which frequently has to be done by a lone operator. This is not an easy task either out on site or in a small workshop, and traditional methods usually have well known inherent difficulties and dangers.

The Zapkut has been specifically designed to overcome these difficulties, being an innovative folding, lightweight, portable vertical panel saw unit, which accepts most makes of portable saw motors, including the latest battery powered units.

Catering for sheets up to 8'x4' and 30mm thick, the Zapkut can be deployed in a matter of seconds. When closed up it requires minimal space, facilitating storage or transport around a school. Lightweight and with built-in wheels, it can even be moved or picked up and carried by one person.

The Zapkut is fitted with comprehensive scales, making cuts both across the width of a sheet or along its length, quick, easy and accurate. Since the Zapkut uses a portable saw unit, it can even bevel cut, unlike most industrial vertical saws.

A removable mid-height platform makes cutting of smaller pieces far safer and easier than with trestles. Indeed, safety has been a key part of the design philosophy: the Zapkut is robust and stable in use, and comes complete with provision for both dust extraction and cable management.

Finally, rigorous, innovative design has achieved a price never before matched in the market for vertical panel saws, bringing the Zapkut well within the budget range of most schools.
