Arvind Malhotra, Managing Director of GapGuru explains more: ‘Last year, we sent 12 teachers from across the UK to teach underprivileged children in India, and the results were truly astonishing. This year, we want to find teachers with the same dedication and talent to use their skills in some of the poorest parts of India and Nepal. Our aim is to find 30 talented teachers who are prepared to use their summer break to teach in India or Nepal and benefit the lives of children who need it most, building on the foundations we laid last year.'
The Travelling to Teach trip lasts three weeks, from 3rd August to 21st August and gives teachers the chance to explore a wonderful part of the world and make a difference in some of the most deprived areas.
Arvind explains further: ‘The charity schools we work with provide education to children from some of the poorest backgrounds across India and Nepal, they need our help and support. We are looking for qualified teachers, English language teachers and those with an aptitude for drama, arts and crafts, music or sport to work with the teachers at these schools, run a programme for the children and use their talent to make a difference. The children are keen to learn new skills, and in many cases, our volunteers will learn from them too. To get them together we have put together a special package which will help make this opportunity a reality. This really is a once in a lifetime opportunity and one that could change lives.'
