Flooring ideal for its application
Published:  25 March, 2009

Contract interiors specialist Gradus has supplied flooring from its Jaku and Kata design tile ranges, as part of a refurbishment programme for Levenshulme High School for Girls, funded by the government's Building Schools for the Future (BSF) initiative.

Gradus' Kata and Jaku random lay carpet design tiles in Yaka and Shika colourways were fitted in two classrooms to create a modern yet practical environment for staff and pupils.

Being random-lay, the carpet tiles offer the opportunity to create interesting design alternatives to traditional broadloom designs. Plus, as there is no set layout, installation is quick and easy, making it ideal for education applications where it is important that timescales are met and minimal disruption is caused.

The tiles have a strong flammability rating and have been tested to Class Bfl-S1. Caroline Davies, Floor coverings Product Manager for Gradus, adds: "Random lay carpet tiles are becoming more popular in education applications due to their flexibility of design, underfoot comfort and modern aesthetics. Jaku and Kata are both easy to clean and can be quickly re-laid and replaced, should any damage occur in busy classroom environments." Gradus offers a comprehensive range of floor coverings, including cork flooring, barrier matting, loose lay vinyl and printed, polypropylene and nylon carpets.
