Suso supporting sport in schools
At the Rosslyn Park National Schools Sevens 2009
Published:  25 March, 2009

93 years ago, rugby clubs across the country were closing their doors as players went to fight in the Great War, but Rosslyn Park helped to keep the faint flicker of british rugby alive. In January of 1916, a set of schoolboy matches were hosted to boost morale for local supporters and players alike. Now, almost a century later, the famous old club showcases the finest upstarts of international schools sport in the largest rugby tournament on earth and this year celebrates its 70th birthday from its official beginnings in 1939. A place in the history books is up for grabs in this epic competition.

At the Rosslyn Park National Schools Sevens Tournament (23rd to 27th March 2009) you will find glaring examples of what event sponsors SUSO refer to as a NO CAN'T DO attitude.  Firstly the very achievement of staging a week long schools sevens tournament, the biggest of its kind in the world, with some 600 schools and 7,000 13-19 years olds participating (some from Lithuania, Poland and the Ukraine!), is an incredible feat in itself. Then there are those on the pitch, the next generation of rugby talent - running, stepping and tackling themselves into the ground.  Rugby sevens is a game for the imaginative and creative but fundamentally, as lung busting as this sport is, it is for the determined.  In pitting themselves against the best in the country this determination will be key for those schools and teams looking to bring home the trophy that many might doubt them capable of winning.

SUSO is the new healthier fizzy juice drink available today in over 500 schools nationwide. It is "100% Fruit Juice, carbonated" - so no additives at all.  However, SUSO is more than just a soft drink - it is an idea and an attitude that has been created to inspire and support young people. Today SUSO are continually looking to advocate and encourage this NO CAN'T DO attitude in and beyond schools - be that in sport, music, the arts or any other relevant domains. SUSO is thus proud to again sponsor The Rosslyn Park National Schools Sevens in 2009 as part of supporting a next generation of schools talent looking to master their skills, face their challenges and achieve their goals.
