Specified by Nightingale Associates, furniture to the value of £44,200 from David Bailey's Education range of fitted furniture was used for the special school installation.
In the classrooms and staff room, fitted furniture with a natural colour palette was chosen to inspire a calm and relaxed atmosphere for the children. A cool soothing colour scheme of turquoise wall-hung and floor-mounted units and white worktops was used to furnish the medical rooms. In the teaching kitchens, metallic-coloured worktops were chosen to compliment the ovens and washbasins.
Gill Bierschenk, Executive Headteacher at TreeHouse, commented: "Our priority at TreeHouse is to transform through education the lives of children with autism and the lives of their families. We wanted to choose a cool and refreshing colour scheme to create a calm environment where the children can both learn and play. Also important was the selection of robust hinges and joinery to ensure optimum safety."
TreeHouse School is part of TreeHouse, the national charity for autism education. TreeHouse was founded in 1997 by parents of children with autism and today the charity campaigns for better autism education nationally and runs a school for children and young people with autism. TreeHouse undertakes policy and parliamentary work and research to ensure autism is a national priority, supports parents to campaign locally and offers training and consultancy on autism education.
