Schools asked to pledge support for the Really Good School Dinner
Published:  09 January, 2009

The UN World Food Programme (WFP) and the School Food Trust (SFT) have teamed up to launch The Really Good School Dinner initiative, which will enable children of all ages across England to provide a nutritious meal for some of the world's poorest children simply by donating 10p when they have a school meal.

The latest initiative from the School Food Trust's ‘Get Real' campaign, which is designed to raise awareness amongst school children of all ages as to the importance of healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle, The Really Good School Dinner will run from the 26th to 30th January 2009.  All money raised will be channelled directly into providing meals for children attending the WFP's school feeding programmes in countries including Cambodia, Kenya and Guatemala.

In the run up to January 26th, school children can get involved by logging on to www.getreal.uk.com/really-good-school-dinner where they can ‘pledge' how many school meals they plan on having during the week. They can also create their own avatar, to sit at their school table in the virtual canteen, and see how their school compares to others.
