A report by the Audit Commission shows that one in ten councils in England is experiencing extra demand for state school places as the credit crunch bites. Cash-strapped parents are pulling there children out of private education to save money. Councils in London are particularly affected suggests the report and councils expect the situation to worsen as the crunch takes hold.
