Raleigh challenge in India
Published:  16 December, 2008

Successful GCSE students from Henry Compton Boys School, Fulham, have found out which of them is going on a life-changing expedition to India with youth and education charity Raleigh.

The School has selected eleven Year 11 boys who have just received their GCSE results and who have shown great educational progress throughout their courses as part of the KS 4 Incentive Award Scheme devised by neighbourhood regeneration programme North Fulham New Deal for Communities (NDC) to reward educational improvement.

The Raleigh expedition is funded by North Fulham NDC. The group will fly to Bangalore and will live and work with a remote community in the Mysore region, assisting with a community development project. The boys will face tough personal, physical, and emotional challenges as they live and work in a remote rural village, working as a team to help develop school facilities and leading a trek through a wilderness region. The expedition takes place during Diwali, which will give the boys an exciting cultural insight into this religious festival.
