‘Alternative' Careers Portal for School Leavers
Published:  16 December, 2008

The website, which has been named ‘Best Young Person's Website', presents independent advice and jobs aimed at helping school/college leavers who are considering not going to University.

NotGoingToUni.co.uk; the alternative careers site for school/college leavers, was founded by 19 year old Tom Mursell, who like many other young people, wasn't sure what he wanted to do after college and felt considerable pressure to go to University.

He says, ‘Our mission is to help today's young people make an informed decision and realise that there are great opportunities available outside of University. There are so many alternative routes to success yet no single place to learn about them - until now!'

The launch coincided with Global Entrepreneurship Week, with Tom being named as one of the Future 100 Young Entrepreneurs of the year. Tom is rapidly becoming the voice of the NotGoingToUni generation and is one of the subjects featured in a Channel 4 project called YearDot; a year-long documentary for the web and TV which follows Tom and his entrepreneurial aspirations.
