Three out of three for Armaseam
Published:  16 December, 2008

Specialist metal roofing manufacturer Alumasc, has provided all the components and technological expertise needed to achieve the advanced waveform metal roofs which give three new Lancashire school buildings their distinctive appearance.

The dramatic curvature of each roof, complemented by the striking ‘aerofoil' fascia, has been achieved through the use of Armaseam aluminium roofing teamed with Skyline soffits and Alumasc co-ordinating rainwater products.

Although the system's inherent strength allows for considerable unsupported spans, in the case of the Lancashire schools, Alumasc perforated structural deck was specified in conjunction with a partnering manufacturer, to span in excess of 4m between the steel frame. Excellent acoustic performance was ensured through the use of Rockwool acoustic insulation whilst air-tightness was achieved through the installation of a vapour control membrane.

The curved profile incorporating both convex and concave forms was achieved mechanically by Alumasc accredited contractors Watershed Roofing Limited. Armaseam roofs are quickly and economically installed using an improved version of proven zip-up roofing technology, and can be specified in a variety of materials, including copper, stainless steel and zinc. There is a wide variety of finishes and colour options available.
