OKI announces winner at BETT Show 2009
Published:  16 December, 2008

It's that time of the year again....BETT 2009 is back and promises to be even bigger and better this year, especially for OKI Printing Solutions.

OKI has been running a photography competition to encourage children in Secondary Schools around the UK to get snapping with their cameras. The campaign entitled ‘OKI Tools for Schools' gives children an opportunity to win the trip of a lifetime to the Shamwari Game Reserve in South Africa.

To enter, schools simply register on a dedicated micro-site, www.okitoolsforschools.co.uk and upload photographs taken by pupils of local wildlife - anything from farmyard animals to insects, birds and even family pets.

The photographs will be categorised by age and the two top prize-winning entries will be picked at the BETT Show at London Olympia on 17 January 2009 by a representative from the Born Free Foundation.

The winning pupils and their teachers will spend three days on the reserve getting a real understanding of the work of Born Free and seeing conservation in action. The winners will also have the opportunity to donate an OKI printer to a local school near to the Shamwari reserve, as well as the overall winner from each age category receiving a printer for their own school. Every school that enters will have a winning pupil, who will receive a Born Free animal adoption kit.

In addition to the judging of the photography competition, OKI will also be demonstrating its latest innovative products at the show allowing education departments to see what they can do, when they use an OKI printer and how this can help save money within schools and various departments.

Schools no longer need to rely on outsourced printing for materials such as banners, business cards and so on, as with an OKI printer such materials are possible to print in-house and on demand. A recent study from the centre for economics and business research (cebr) estimates that the sector could save up to £115 million per year through more efficient printing - enough to pay 5,476 new graduate teachers for a year at an average starting salary of £21,000. OKI is helping to turn this vision into reality, visit: www.askoki.co.uk/education and see how you could gain from in-house printing.
