Voting age 16?
Published:  10 November, 2008

The Youth Citizenship Commission is asking people their views on whether the voting age should be lowered to 16.  This is part of its work to consider ways of getting more young people involved in the political process.

A consultation paper has been sent to a wide range of organisations interested in youth and voting issues across the UK. The paper is available online at www.ycc.uk.net

The YCC is examining ways to encourage more young people to use the power of politics to change the things they care about, and reviewing the minimum age for voting is part of a range of measures under consideration.
