New shelter design for schools
Published:  10 November, 2008

Playing outdoors is widely recognised as beneficial for a child's development. In response to this, timber building specialist Cabinco has designed a 5m Octagonal timber shelter with seating.  This attractive shelter is proving popular with schools not only as an outdoor classroom but also as a sheltered play area and parents waiting area.

The Octagonal shelter is ideal for primary schools looking to provide a semi-enclosed outdoor teaching area.  It features sturdy benches on 7 sides, giving ample seating space for a primary school class or around 20 adults.  With a diameter of 5m, the shelter can also be used for free play to shelter children from the heat or light rain.

All Cabinco shelters are designed to exacting standards making them strong, durable and safe, whilst at the same time complementing the natural surroundings.  The wood used is pressure impregnated for longevity and the shelter's upright timbers are laminated for greater strength, all timber being guaranteed for 10 years.  Making the shelter child-friendly, the timbers are also planed to prevent splintering and corners are pencil rounded for safety.  Internal decking and cedar shingle roofing are available with the Octagonal shelter as optional extras.

The Octagonal shelter meets the requirements for a waiting shelter for parents walking their children to and from school, and in many cases schools can be eligible for a grant to cover part of the costs. The 5m Octagonal shelter is priced at £4,675 plus VAT, including delivery and full installation.
