An ongoing commitment to school meals
Published:  14 October, 2008

Over 100 delegates from the school meals sector took time out from their demanding schedules to take part in the Premier Foods Education Team's recent ‘Commitment to School Meals' national events, which offered an opportunity to participate in a day of information sharing and learning.

LEA representatives, school food coordinators, school cooks and distributors from across the country were updated on the recent changes and evolution within Premier Foods and introduced to the dedicated education team - the only sector-specific team in the business - who reinforced the company's ongoing commitment and support of the sector.

Taking a slightly different approach to the standard style of business presentations, the majority of the programme was dedicated to encouraging delegates to engage and interact with both the education team and their peers through a series of workshops focusing on product and recipe development - featuring Premier Food's strong portfolio of school-specific products from the Homepride, McDougalls, Quorn, Ambrosia, Angel Delight and Bird's brands - marketing and communication, and motivation.  Delegates were empowered to openly share ideas and discuss issues, frustrations and concerns, and afforded the time and space to perhaps think a little differently about the challenges facing them and the sector.

Comments such as ‘thank you for an enjoyable and very informative day' and ‘great day, really worthwhile', sum up the positive response from the audiences.

Tony Davison, head of the Premier Foods Education Team comments:  "For us, the events were immensely beneficial as they gave a valuable insight into the education sector from those on the frontline, which we have taken away and will use to ensure that we can continue to support the sector in the best possible way."
