Carillion IT Services starts to deliver Stockport's ‘College of the Future'

Stockport College is set to become the UK's first 21st Century ‘College of the Future' with Carillion IT Services commencing work on an innovative £1.4 million contract with the college.

As Stockport College's technology partner, Carillion IT Services is providing design consultancy services and programme management for an IT system that will help the college to deliver a super-infrastructure to support its 8,500 students. The project begins with the design, configuration and installation of technology demonstration suites. This will deploy unified communications, wireless, RFID, integrated building management systems, digital signage and audio visual technology.

Peter Roberts, principal of Stockport College, commented "Delivering the means for students and staff to work in a flexible and progressive setting is a key priority and we are confident that working with Carillion IT Services will enable us to achieve our vision of providing a true 21st century learning environment in Stockport."
