Digital projection system improves education in Ireland
Published:  12 September, 2008

St. Tiernach's Primary School in Clones, Co. Monaghan, Ireland, has installed all-in-one digital projection systems from 3M, the diversified technology company, in its nine classrooms, including the computer room. 3M's systems integrator and reseller in Ireland, Total Office Solutions North East, recommended the Digital Media System (DMS) 810 as the most convenient, safe, high performing and competitively priced digital projection solution.

The DMS810's have been permanently fixed to the walls of each classroom. Teachers now benefit from greater flexibility to plan lessons and the school's technical support staff can focus on activities that add more value to the school, rather than performing repetitive set-up, take-down and put-away tasks.

The system operates at close range to the wall using Vikuiti Super Close Projection technology from 3M. This makes it virtually impossible to obscure or shadow the projected image and enables people to move around the room while the system is in use. A remote-control unit is also provided, allowing teachers to use the front of the room to maximum effect, with the freedom to combine the system with other presentation techniques. The system can be easily connected to a PC, features surround-sound audio, DVD playback capabilities and a built-in annotation module, which effectively turns any suitable projection surface into a digital whiteboard.

"The fact that the system is multi-purpose, and can be used as a projection screen, a normal whiteboard, or an interactive whiteboard is a superb benefit. The excellent audio system is a bonus," confirms Majella Beggan, School Principal at St. Tiernach's.
