Acknowledged for producing confident, happy children with a love of learning, Steiner schools demonstrate a culture of mutual respect between teachers, pupils and parents, and foster the imagination of each individual. The Festival will provide insights into how this is achieved and offer an inside look at a Steiner school that can inform parents’ educational decisions.
The Friday programme is open to all and will feature tours of ‘live’ classrooms, an introductory talk on the Steiner Curriculum, an exhibition of work and performances by Brighton Steiner School pupils. In addition there will be workshops where parents and children can take part in Steiner lessons for a pupil’s-eye view of the curriculum, exploring the experiential accent on learning that is central to Steiner education. There will also be an ‘Ask the Panel’ session where current and former pupils can respond to questions, and the opportunity for informal talks with teachers and parents. The Friday programme is free of charge.
The Saturday programme is aimed largely at educators and will consist of lectures and workshops by practising Steiner teachers from Brighton Steiner School and invited Steiner teacher trainers from around the country. The cost for the Saturday programme is £65.
Separate programmes running for Early Years (2-7yrs) and Main School (7-16yrs)
