New Rockwool FirePro Coated Batt
Published:  10 July, 2008

Maintaining the integrity of fire compartment walls and floors in buildings often depends on the effective fire sealing around service penetrations, such as cables and pipes. To ensure the most stringent fire requirements are met, Rockwool has now launched its own high quality coated batts at extremely competitive prices.

Rockwool's new FirePro Coated Batt has been tested to the latest CEN standard (prEN 1366-3) and achieved a unique four hour integrity and two hour insulation fire performance as a blank seal and also when penetrated by cables and steel/copper pipes. Additionally, it achieved two hours integrity and one hour insulation when tested with plastic pipes and is now available at prices competitive with any other coated batt currently in the UK market place.

The FirePro Coated Batt has been manufactured from start to finish by Rockwool, with a non-combustible stone wool core, which can withstand temperatures in excess of 1000°C. The ablative coating is applied evenly by the latest automated technology, to eliminate any variability in its performance and quality.

The FirePro Coated Batt is available as a single standard 60mm thickness to avoid confusion during installation, yet provides a highly versatile product to create fire seals for pipes and individual or multiple cable runs,, both with or without trays and ladders. The Batts are simply cut and friction- fitted together on site and all joints pointed with FirePro Acoustic Intumescent Sealant to create a monolithic layer for effective fire and smoke sealing.

To complement the FirePro Coated Batt, the Rockwool FirePro range of fire stopping and penetration sealing products includes fire resistant sealants, silicone coatings, intumescent sleeves, collars and wraps. The range offers a complete one-stop solution for achieving successful fire protection in modern buildings where services pass through fire compartment walls and floors.
